Things To Do
Take a train ride!
Pine Creek/NJMT offers train rides throughout week and on the weekend during the warmer months. They have weekend train rides in the spring, falls and around special holidays.
Celebrate Your Child's Birthday
Pine Creek/NJMT offers a special day for your kids! Here is a note from their site: Our 100-year-old Freneau Station is the setting for our birthday parties. There's enough room for 20 children to sit around our tables for crafts or eating. Weather permitting, you can also use our two picnic tables adjacent to the station.
Education and Training Opportunities
Pine Creek/NJMT offer special training and education: The New Jersey Museum of Transportation is an education organization, and as such we encourage other educational and training organizations to make use of our staff and grounds. We provide unique training opportunities for service animals that trainers have found especially beneficial. And, we're pleased to offer our services entirely free of charge.
Groups are Welcome
Special accommodations are made for school groups, tours, day camps, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, weddings or any other special occasions.
Admission And Fees
You may need to pay a few to get into Allaire during the warmer months. But this just gets you into Allaire State Park itself. Riding the train requires that you purchase a train ticket for each passenger. Please review:
- Train Rides: The fare for a regular train ride is $4.00.
- Special Events: There are many special events throughout the year that may require tickets to be purchased beforehand, and may cost more per person. See the NJMT website for more information.
Parking
The main entrance to the Pine Creek/the Village can be found off Atlantic Ave. You will follow this entrance past the entrance gate (entrance fee may be collected) to the main parking area.
Giving Back
Many of the locations in Allaire, including Pine Creek, are ran by non-profit groups that need your help? Though they all work closely with the state, they do not receive enough (or any) funding from the state park system to keep their amazing locations open. To learn more about how you can help, visit our Giving Back page for details.
The Village and Railroad Are Not the Same Organization: Many folks feel that the Railroad and the Village are both ran by the state. They are not. They are also different organizations. So please note that giving to Pine Creek is great, but it does not help the the village keeps its doors open. Please consider visiting both, and giving back to both, each visit.
